The Underdogs Story

So, we had this dog — Sammy…
She was a small, weird bolognese. I mean, she was never diagnosed with any disorder or anything, but based on the way she behaved, we were pretty sure something was off. (Must have been something with her nervous system or something that made her unable to connect…)

Aaaanyway.
No matter how much we loved her, fed her, took care of her… she would just sit there and stare into nothing. Quiet. Still. Almost painfully gentle.
She was so tragically pathetic that one day I started sketching logos of her. She was at her most miserable when we put her under the shower. Watching her shake, dripping wet, staring into the void — it was both heartbreaking and hilarious at the same time.
I made the sketches, and eventually I made a proper logo. I marked it as “Sammy the Sad Dog”. I even thought about making an Instagram page for her — just photos of her staring at the ground from different places.
One Christmas, she crawled under the tree, curled up between the lights and the gifts… and just stared out at us again. That was the whole vibe.

And the funny thing is: I made that logo long before I ever watched a single CS tournament.

Then I started watching Counter-Strike.
And in almost every match, in every event, the casters kept saying the same thing:

“Which team do you think the underdog is?”

And every single time, I looked at Sammy’s clumsy, sad little face and said:

“You.
You little creep.
You are the underdog.”

And that was it.
That’s when the idea hit:

Wait a second — how funny would it be to make a team whose name is actually literally Underdogs? If nothing else, because the only way how we could connect to Sammy was playing. She loved to play.
So we could give the casters a genius pun on a Counter-Strike match.

“Coming up next: Underdogs vs. MOUZ.
Tell me, Janko… which team is the real underdog here?”

So I tweaked the logo a bit, made some merch — a jersey for myself, a mug —
and just like that,
the brand was born.
